Signature Shirts

A single stitched kameez, sold on its own, ready to wear. No trouser and no dupatta: this is the piece you build around what is already in your wardrobe, worn over a trouser you own, over jeans, or under a plain dupatta when the day calls for one.

Each shirt carries the block print or the hand embroidery that the design is about, because with one piece there is nowhere else for the work to go.

A block print is stamped rather than machine-repeated, so the register shifts very slightly from one repeat to the next. That small irregularity is the mark of the technique and not a fault: a perfectly uniform repeat is what a screen print looks like.

Colour is set into the cloth rather than sitting on top of it, which is why it survives washing when it is treated properly. Cold hand-wash separately for the first two washes and dry in shade, and the depth holds for several seasons.

Shirts are cut loose through the body and the sleeve. The size chart on each product page covers shoulder, bust, armhole and sleeve length as the finished garment measured flat in inches. Width figures are half the way round.

Sleeve length is the figure most worth checking, because height varies more than width between women of the same size. Measure a shirt you already wear rather than relying on your usual size.
